The Tizen Association is a consortium of companies dedicated to providing marketing, guidance and industry support for the Tizen Operating System. Their Members are currently Fujitsu, Huawei, Intel, Kt, NEC, NTT Docomo, Orange, Panasonic, Samsung, SK Telecom, Sprint and Vodafone:
They have recently made an announcement of the release of Tizen 2.2 and in particular mention Intel and Samsung’s position that we have previously covered on TizenExperts:
According to the Chairman of Tizen Association, Ryoichi Sugimura, “Tizen has always been promoted through close collaboration between the Tizen Association, its member companies and the Tizen Project hosted within the Linux Foundation. Together, we are whole-heartedly dedicated to the success of Tizen and see Tizen 2.2 as an important step to ensuring the future successful launch of the platform.”
Intel reiterated its commitment to Tizen, stating: “Intel is very committed to the development of Tizen. We see a unique role for Tizen in the industry to create and grow a new, open and flexible mobile operating system that allows developers to ‘write once/run on many devices.’ ”
Likewise, Samsung reinforced their support with this comment: “Samsung has been actively working on the Tizen eco-system together with Tizen Association members and partners. The first Tizen-based smartphone will be released in cooperation with mobile operators and eco-system partners. Samsung is committed to delivering the best mobile experience based on the open platform and a fully-ready eco-system around it.”
