The new Galaxy Buds+ from Samsung came out not too long ago, and it seems as though it can compete with Apple’s Airpods Pro, is this true? Let’s see.
Samsung definitely made a big hype about their earbuds, however, Apple have made quite a good job with their Airpods Pro. Samsung also upped their game with the Galaxy Buds+ which warrants a bit more of a comparison.

Noise cancelling
The AirPods Pro have adaptive noise cancelling which makes it sound as if it’s only you and music inside a bubble. The Galaxy Buds+ do not have Active Noise Cancelling, but the snug fit does block out a lot of the noise around you. They have a feature called Ambient Noise Cancelling, which is supposed to make your music volume lower and activate all of its mics in order for you to hear yourself and your surrounding. There’s something called transparency mode on the AirPods that work well with hearing announcements, trains ,cars etc.
Sound quality
Samsung’s sound is a little bit more bassy and full when set to the mode normal in the Samsung Wearable app. You can even change it to increase the treble and lessen the bass making it more clearer. The AirPods Pro offer a clearer sound straight out of the gate better with less bass and a slightly tighter treble.
The Battery Life
Now the battery life is better in the Buds+ but let’s get into detail.
The Buds+ can play constant music for 11 hours before you need to charge them again. Your case can only survive 1 charge, giving you a maximum of 22 hours before needing to charge the Buds+ case.
On the other hand, the AirPods Pro have 4 – 5 hours of playback constantly playing music. however the case can survive for a single 24 hours. The AirPods Pro’s case can only survive 2 hours longer, but the Buds+ can charge faster, which explains why.
Controls
If you use Apple products and have paired your AirPods Pro to just one of your devices, you’re ready to go. The H1 chip in your AirPods means once its paired with only one of them, it’s paired to all of them, which stops the hassle of pairing your new phone. You do have the option to connect the AirPods to any Android smartphone, but you just lose some features on the way.
The AirPods Pro automatically stop the music when it’s not in your ears, but the Buds+ do not – they just keep playing until the phone or the Buds die. The AirPods Pro let you use one earbud at a time, so if you the one you’re currently using runs out of battery, you can just switch to the other one and wait for the one you were using to charge to maximum. This is a handy feature!
Samsung lets you have more control over your earbuds when you are using the app. You can see the buds battery level, switch audio profiles, and the good thing that Samsung does is they let you choose Ambient Noise to find your EarBuds wherever you left them.
Conclusion
Before we get into the nitty gritty, you have to keep in mind the price. The Galaxy Buds+ are £159 and the AirPods Pro £249. A huge difference. The Buds+ seem good for Samsung, there are more features then the AirPods, but it really depends what sound you like. If you like bass and have a Samsung smart phone, we recommend you get the Buds+, if you have an iPhone and don’t mind bass or not as many features, go for the AirPods Pro.
For us, the money saving and features, sound, make us want to go for the Samsung Galaxy Buds+.
