The creator of the hit indie game, Binding of Isaac, finally broke the silence on the possibility of a new game in the series. Edmund McMillen, the creator of Binding of Isaac, made a TikTok reply to a fan comment inquiring about whether the rogue-lite title will ever get a sequel.
McMillen said: “Will there ever be another Isaac game? I can say with certainty that there will eventually be another Isaac game.
“I don’t know when I would not expect [it] for another few years. It’s not something I’m working on; I’m not lying about that.”

The future of Binding of Isaac
While a sequel may appear like a fever dream, the creator commented that other options were on the table. McMillen said: “The chances of an Isaac-like spin-off before a full sequel? A higher probability, probably.
“Realistically, to do a sequel, we would need to spend many, many years on it.”
Whilst fans may be disheartened to hear that they shouldn’t expect a new Isaac game any time soon, it is also one of the best answers the community could have gotten.
It wouldn’t be the first time an old roguelike was finally brought to life years after release, with Dead Cells being no exception after with an update after six years of dormancy.
After nearly a decade of silence, with little to no activity surrounding the franchise, a light has finally appeared at the end of the tunnel; even if it’s a little further away than we had hoped.
The original Binding of Isaac title was released back in 2011, made by both Edmund McMillen and Florian Himsl, following the explosive popularity of Super Meat Boy.
The last entry into the series was the remastered version, Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, which launched back in 2014 to critical appeal. It soon followed with two expansions, Afterbirth and Repentance.
For the time being, McMillen has stated that he will be focusing creative efforts on his upcoming cat-themed roguelike – Mewgenics.
