Apple’s Original Apple Watch came out back in 2015 and has been advertised as a health and fitness tracker. Unlike many of the newest fitness trackers, this one cannot track sleep. As of now, you still have to buy a third-part app if you do. This might change soon.
On the Apple Store – there was a listing in the Apple Store for Apple’s Alarms app for Apple Watch. It references to an unreleased Sleep App.
The description for the sleep app for the Apple Watch hints that you’ll be able to set when you want to wake up and go to sleep. You can either have the same alarms you have on your phone or have separate ones for your smartwatch. To snooze an alarm, you have to press the Digital Crown – the alarm will go off again after 9 minutes. You use the side button to switch the alarm off.
The sleep app for the Apple Watch might take alarms to further depth. Perhaps it might wake you up at an optimal time before your alarm so you wake up fresh. To customise your alarms – use the dictation feature.
There has been a rumour about Apple adding the sleep tracking feature to the Apple Watch for quite some time. In 2017 it seemed that Apple had an increased interest in sleep tracking by bringing in Beddit – a sleep-tracking hardware maker. Sources from Apple said that the feature may be called “Time in Bed Tracking” earlier in September. This feature may track the quality of sleep you get by using the ensors the Apple Watch has. Perhaps Apple users will get a WearOS update soon =)
