On Tuesday, TCL, the Chinese electronics maker, confirmed it was reviving the Palm brand.
Last month, it signaled the move with the purchase of a set of trademarks from HP, which bought the ill-fated smartphone maker in 2010 and still owned the Palm name after selling its software assets to LG in 2013.
The announcement, made from Las Vegas in the thick of the Consumer Electronics Show, had a decidedly slapdash quality, with the impression it had been hastily translated.
Here’s the press release—judge for yourself how quickly this was put together.
