If you are a Sony Xperia user that likes to tinkering and modify your mobiles then you may be familiar with the Sony Flashtool app. This nifty little utility that lets you Flash a Sony Xperia device with a different ROM from possibly a different region. It has been around since Sony mobiles first came on the scene and has only now received support for 2017 Xperia devices.
Flashtool developer Androxyde has now updated the Flash tool to version 0.9.24.2, which now includes support for the Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact. It has to be noted that this newer version does not support Java 8, but now requires Java 9 in order to work. One of the pre-requisites of Java 9 is that it will only run on a 64-bit OS, so if it’s an old machine you have then it’s just not going to be compatible.
As with all types of firmware / ROM flashing you should know what you are doing and understand that they may be voiding your warranty by doing so and the potential of bricking your device. If your still not deterred then you can download the new version here. Have flashing and lets us know how you get on in the comments section below.
