Samsung Electronics have stated multiple times that the Tizen Operating System (OS) platform will become at the core of the companies Internet of Things (IoT) strategy, powering their IoT devices, after all it is ‘The OS of Everything’.
“We are preparing for the Internet of Things, and Tizen as ‘The OS of Everything’ will be the core platform,” said Choi Jong-deok (JD Choi), executive vice president of Samsung Electronics Software Center, as one of the main speakers at SAS Forum 2015 in Korea.
JD Choi presented a seminar at the SAS Forum 2015 entitled “Vision for IoT & Analytics”, during which he Introduced Samsung’s IoT platform and the fact that the “IoT Era has begun”. To connect the devices you have the Samsung Hub and also the Samsung TV in the home, with data being analyzed through the connection of cloud and Big Data platform.
According to JD Choi, IOT will be applied in many sectors of life, including home (Smart Home), education (Smart Education), health and others. “In 2017, 90% of Samsung devices will be connected to the IOT. And after five years of all Samsung products will be connected to each other,” he said. Samsung has been working with other manufacturers to build an Open IoT Platform and can be connected with other smart devices based on other operating systems like iOS, Windows, and Firefox.
