For a very long time, Samsung has been preparing to launch their first smartphone – that’s foldable! The device might even become official at CES 2019 in January. While we’re waiting for the Korean company’s next lightbulb idea, people at NieuweMobiel teamed up with Jonas Dähnert to bring us a glimpse of what the handset may end up looking like.
This new handset has been referred as ‘Galaxy X’ but now, there may be a chance that it will be launched as ‘Galaxy F’ Galaxy F was the name of a cancelled model from a few years back.
Regardless of the name, the handset can’t be folded flat according to the design. Even when the smartphone is in it’s ‘closed’ position, there’s still an opening reminiscent of the Microsoft Surface Book. In the images, the fingerprint scanner is on the back of the handset. Samsung choosing to go with the under-display solution is actually likely. The phone may also have four.. yes, four cameras. Two on the front, two on the back.
There were rumours going around in the past regarding talk about a 7″ (or larger) touchscreen when the phone is fully unfolded. The resolution is expected to be 1440×3360. The battery seems to be likely to be somewhere in between 3,000 and 6,000 mAh. The smartphone may not be aimed at the mass market due to a rumour that its price may be as high as $1,850. A really high price to say the least.
