Samsung Russia has presented the Tizen-based Samsung Z3 before the SPECIAL – Information Technology (SPEC-IT), which was held recently in Russia. The Samsung Z3 is the Corporate version which was launched exclusively in Russia around June last year with some secure features. The SPEC-IT conference is an annual event aimed to promote the equipment of law enforcement and government agencies with modern technology. The conference is also an avenue for direct dialogue between enterprises, developers, manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech services.
The Director of B2Mobile Sales, Samsung Electronics, Alexander Terekhov spoke at the event and highlighted the advanced solutions for information security which the Tizen-powered Samsung Z3 Corporate version brings with it. The Samsung Z3 Corporate Edition was introduced in Russia last year and is the first device that is shipping with a Tizen Operating System (OS) distribution that is certified in Russia for the use of businesses. The product is also part of the SAFE solution (certified with MDM and VPN).
According to the Samsung exec, the Tizen-powered Samsung Z3 ensures a higher level of data protection through the use of the principle of “White lists”. Data protection is also guaranteed through the installation of only necessary applications which is accessible to the customer. In addition, a multi-level authorization system is also implemented on the Samsung Z3 in which access level can be set for all employees accessing the Corporate workstation. All these make the smartphone an ideal solution for easy mobile workplace solutions for businesses and corporate users.
The Samsung Z3 is powered by Samsung’s Tizen operating system which is an open source OS developed based on the Linux kernel. The operating system ensures the confidentiality and security of users’ information. The Tizen OS also allows users to quickly and effectively implement a set of protective measures to minimise the risks associated with critical vulnerabilities and is optimal for use in corporate structures. In addition, Tizen OS is the first mobile operating system in Russia, certified by the Federal Service for Technical and Export Control (FSTEC).
Apart from the highly secure Tizen OS, the Samsung Z3 Corporate Edition comes with a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916), unlike the 32bit Spreadtrum SC7730S used on the Indian unit. The Russian model also comes with 4G LTE connectivity support which also has the VoLTE feature.
