Samsung has recently secured the Gear Solo trademark, which looks like it is a Smart watch with a built in mobile phone for voice calls and 3G network connectivity. They also trademarked the Gear Now name, kinda sounds like Google Now, but we will see.
Now Samsung has secured another trademark, and this is for the Gear Clock name. We can only speculate to what it could potentially be used for, as Samsung has recently revealed its Tizen Smart watches and then confirmed that they will also be bringing out an Android Ware device later this year. We would of hoped that they would pursue one Smart watch strategy, but Samsung does not want to put all its eggs in one basket for now.
Could they just be trademarking the name “just in case” they need it in the future? No one knows at the moment. If anything does come of this, we will let you know.
