Amazon and Samsung have signed a new deal to jointly launch a kindle book store that is made specifically for Samsung Galaxy Smart phones and tablets (Android 4.0+), allowing the download of books, magazines and newspapers.
As a sweetener to entice books worms to its new service, they will let you download up to 12 free books per year. The titles on offer with apparently be majors ones from a catalogue of over 500,000. Amazon’s Whispersync service will also be integrated and allows the last page read to be synchronised across devices, amongst other features.
The application will not be available in Google’s Play Store, but rather downloadable from the Samsung Apps Store, with Kindle for Samsung being immediately available in over 90 countries.
“We are delighted to be able to deepen our long-standing relationship with Amazon and offer Kindle for Samsung as the perfect app for reading on a smart device. With this service we demonstrate our commitment to creating and broadening key content partnerships that deliver rich and personalized experiences for our customers,” said Lee Epting, Vice President, Samsung’s Media Solution Center Europe.
There is no mention if this service will be available on Samsung Tizen devices at the moment, as the Tizen Operating System is not part of the Samsung Galaxy product line. Hopefully with the release of Tizen Smart Phones in the coming months, this could be a great option for eBooks Samsung Tizen devices. Ultimately the hope would be this would open up to the whole Tizen ecosystem.
