Samsung’s Won-Pyo Hong, President of Samsung Electronics’ Media Solution Center predicts that the Smart home concept will gain momentum in the coming years.
“In the next two to three years, smart home services will provide an enormous benefit for people—just as smartphones and smart TVs do now.”
Samsung has recently launched its Smart Home service, which is seen as a step in the right direction of an open ecosystem, that would allow companies from various backgrounds to create a smarter home experience. These industries include telecommunication, consumer electronics, construction, energy and security.
“Discussions about building an ecosystem with various companies have already taken place,” said Mr. Hong. “In addition, the building process has recently gained momentum with the launch of Samsung Smart Home service.”
The Samsung Smart Home service is already available for Android 4.0+ smartphones, and will be available by the end of the month for their recently released Tizen based Gear 2 Smart watch. Its great to see that this will be an Open ecosystem that can welcomes other platforms. We have Tizen TV’s, Tizen Washing machine’s, Tizen fridge’s and Tizen Smart lighting that will be launching this year.
