Samsung shows off unnamed 8K RGB Micro LED TV at CES 2025

TLDR

  • Samsung unveiled an 8K RGB Micro LED TV at CES 2025, set to be its flagship model.
  • The 98-inch TV features enhanced color, brightness, and precision with RGB Micro LED tech.
  • Pricing is unannounced, but similar TVs cost over $100,000; AI features include live translation.

Samsung showed off its latest and greatest TVs at CES 2025, with the South Korean company refreshing its display lineup. One TV that stuck out is its new 8K RGB Micro LED panel, which doesn’t even have a name yet.

The 8K screen is set to be Samsung’s flagship TV when it ships later this year and will come in at 98-inches. According to reports from CES, it’s likely that Samsung will ship the TV in other sizes as well.

While OLED and Mini LED were on display at competitors’ booths, and even at Samsung’s own, the company is already looking to the future. RGB Micro LED is a relatively new technology for consumer-level panels, with the idea of getting even better color, brightness, and importantly, precision when viewing the TV.

What is RGB Micro LED?

RGB Micro LED differs from the current offerings like Mini LED and even other Micro LED panels. It combines individual red, green, and blue LEDs into one, and then applies thousands of them to make up the TV’s panel. Of course, it’s smaller, allowing for a greater density of LEDs to be packed into the screen. When the backlight is beamed through it, the onboard software has greater control over the output.

Don’t expect Samsung’s new 8K RGB Micro LED TV to be cheap

While the technology is impressive, the pricing has yet to be announced. Micro LED TVs currently go for an eye-watering amount of cash. Samsung’s own 2022 Micro LED TV, a 110-inch behemoth, will run you $149,999.99. Other competitors like LG have there’s for $237,000.

It’s not the only interesting bit of tech that Samsung is packing into its screens these days. The company finally showed off its revival of 3D screens, with a gaming monitor now sporting the tech. This allows you to view the 3D image without glasses, similar to how Nintendo handled the 3DS in 2011.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a tech launch in 2025 without some kind of AI bolted on. Its TV range will now support live translation of shows for subtitles, as well as being able to search for people or products on screen.
