Samsung officially announces Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J4

Samsung Electronics has just added two more members to its J series of smartphones. The new devices, Samsung Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J4 focus more on selfie cameras and affordable price tags.

Samsung Galaxy J6

This new member of Samsung’s J series packs a 5.6-inch 18.5:9 AMOLED Infinity Display unit of HD+ resolution (720×1440). The phone has very slim side bezels, whereas the top and bottom bezels aren’t too bulky either. Samsung Galaxy J6 is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 7870 chipset with 1.6GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU, coupled with Mali-T830 MP1 GPU. The processor is supported by 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage, expandable via a microSD card.

As I said earlier, the phone focuses more on cameras, Samsung has made it a trend in fact. It houses a 13MP camera at the back with f/1.9 lens but without OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). At front, you would find an 8MP selfie camera with f/1.9 aperture and an LED flash. And for you, selfie lovers, the front flash has three different levels of brightness and I’m sure you would love it.

The Samsung Galaxy J6 runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, with Samsung Experience interface on top. Connectivity options of the phone include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and 4G, and for power, the phone houses a 3000mAh battery. Unlike a few other phones of the J series, the Galaxy J6 has its fingerprint sensor mounted on the back. Other sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor and Accelerometer.

Samsung Galaxy J4

The latest addition to the J series, Samsung Galaxy J4 features a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) Super AMOLED display. Under the hood is the Exynos 7570’s 1.4 GHz quad-core CPU, coupled with Mali-T720 MP1 GPU and 2GB RAM. The internal storage capacity of the phone is 16 GB, which can be expanded via the microSD card slot. The phone has dimension of 151.7×77.2×8.1mm and weighs 175 grams.

Once again, Samsung has put an effort on to provide quality camera at affordable price. The Galaxy J4 features a 13MP rear camera, same as that of J6. The front camera, however, only shoots 5MP stills, but does have the adjustable LED flash.
The Galaxy J4 also runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Interestingly, Samsung has retained the battery capacity at 3,000 mAh, that is claimed to deliver up to 20 hours of talk time on a single charge.

Price and availability

Samsung Galaxy J6 is available in three different colours – black, lavender and gold – at $205 (INR 13,990 in India). The 4GB/64GB variant is priced at $240 (INR 16,400). The Galaxy J4 is also available in three coulor choices – black, orchid gray and gold – but there’s no news on the price yet.
