Samsung India Electronics have just announced the launch of the first Tizen based Smartphone for India, the Samsung Z1. The Tizen Experts Team and Linux enthusiasts EVERYWHERE (almost everywhere) are delighted to see this moment finally happen.
Samsung Z1 expands the mobile entertainment experience with simple yet smart features
The Z1 was launched at a Press Event held at the in New Delhi, India and is the first Tizen Smartphone to be released. Users will see improvements in memory and power management compared to current Operating Systems. We have faster boot and application launch times, as well as the best in class browsing experience, and long lasting battery performance.
“The smartphone market in India is rapidly evolving, with many consumers using their device as their screen of choice for content including videos, television programs and video games, as well as a range of apps,” said Mr. Hyun Chil Hong, President and CEO, Samsung India Electronics, “We have customized the Samsung Z1 to meet these unique, entertainment-focused needs of local Indian consumers for a personal and reliable mobile experience.”
Samsung seem to have read their perspective users correctly we think and bundled in some great free entertainment for music, movies, videos, mobile TV and radio. Users will get ‘Joy Box’, which lets them access music, TV and movies. We are talking 270,000 songs and the ability to watch over 80 live TV channels. Samsung have partnered with Hungama.com so users can stream or download tracks of their choice. Over two million Bollywood and English songs can be accessed for free for a period of three months.
For Live TV Samsung has partnered with mobile Live TV service nexGTv and Box TV, allowing access to 7000 Bollywood and Hollywood movies for 3 months. You also get built in Anti-Virus protection that continually scans the system for threats such as virus, smishing, phishing, and even pharming.
If that is not enough, Reliance Communications & Aircel users will get 500MB of 3G data every month for 6 months.
