Samsung Electronics Singapore have worked with SATS Ltd. (SATS), Asia’s leading provider of gateway services and food solutions, in providing the company with Samsung Gear S3 smartwatches for use in technical ramp operations. This new implementation enabled workers to receive their work duty schedules and instructions in real-time and negated the need to print out work orders, the previous old fashioned way.

In all, 130 SATS’ technical staff that handle ramps received a Gear S3 as part of the IoT solution. The main reasons that the S3s were used were efficiency, productivity and safety in the workplace. The company was able to streamline on-ground processes and enhance communication, allowing SATS to reallocate resources for greater efficiency.
Workers paired the wearable device with their Bluetooth bone-conductor headsets and were able to make and receive hands-free calls using their Gear S3. The special headsets made it possible for the wearer to hear callers even though it was a noisy environment and they had ear plugs in.
