Samsung Gear IconX software update brings equalizer, ‘Ambient Sound’ mode, and more

The Samsung Gear IconX (2018) is one of the best wireless earbud available in the market today. Offering a cord-free, ergonomic design, standalone music playback, automatic activity tracking and a built-in Running Coach, the earbuds itself brought in a lot of improvements over its predecessor when it was launched last year. And now, a significant software update improves the listening experience even more, in several ways.

Samsung Gear IconX (2018) software update

Samsung has released a software update for its fitness-focused earbuds’ with a lot of key improvements and new features. The company has introduced new ways to customize the listening experience. The update also streamlines how users fill the device with their favorite music tracks.
To start with, Samsung has added a new “Equalizer” feature to the Gear IconX which allows users to switch between five preset audio frequencies. You can choose between Bass Boost, Soft, Dynamic, Clear and Treble Boost audio profiles to make your music suit your mood.

The software update also brings another new feature called “Ambient Sound.” As the name suggests, the feature enables users to control the amount of ambient sound they would like the earbuds to let in. This feature would definitely come good when you’re running or cycling outdoors. There’s also a “Voice Focus” feature which amplifies the voices of others around you when you’re indoors.
Does it irritates you when you inadvertently hit the touchpad on the earbuds and it switches the music track? The new update has solution for that as well. There’s a new option in the touchpad settings which locks the touchpad 30 seconds after wearing the earbuds. You can unlock the touchpad by removing both earbuds or touching and holding an earbud.
Last but certainly not least, managing the music library on your Gear IconX (2018) has now become all so easier with the new update. The update’s new “Wireless Transfer” feature now lets users to transfer multiple tracks at once, without having to mess with cables.
The update is rolling out to the Gear IconX 2018 now and weighs just 11.12 MB. You can download the update for you earbuds via the Samsung Gear app.
