Samsung Galaxy View 2 release date and price, supporting 17.3″ from AT&T

Samsung is now in the process of launching its next MASSIVE screen device, the Samsung Galaxy View 2. AT&T have confirmed that the device will be available from them and have a 17.3-inch screen. Screen wise, it is a tad smaller than the original Galaxy View, which measured in at an 18.4-inch display. The confirmation comes via a promotional video (see below).

AT&T has dubbed the device a “4G LTE connected mobile TV and large-screen tablet.” It has a full HD touchscreen display and also a kickstand at the rear that lets you stand it up for video consumption. The kickstand can also be closed and the tablet laid flat. I’m a bit disappointed with full HD as 1920 x 1080 on a 17.3-inch screen produces a very low PPI of 127. Suppose they don’t think their target market will appreciate the resolution.

The tablet has no TV Tuner built into this device, so it’s not really a TV, as per AT&T’s claim. But consumers can use DirectTV Now, as well as other services, to watch Live TV. On-demand services like Netflix, YouTube, Playstation Vue, and SLing TV will feel perfectly at home.

Interestingly, AT&T’s NumberSync service is supported on the Galaxy View 2. Users will be able to use their normal mobile phone number, by inserting a Nano-SIM card, to make and receive calls, which makes the device more attractive as a media communication device for places like the kitchen.

Galaxy View 2 release date and price

According to Engadget, AT&T have reached out to them and confirmed that the tablet will be available as both online and offline. The sale date is April 26 (Tomorrow). If you opt for the online price from AT&T then you are looking at $37 for 20 months. THis equals $740.

Galaxy View 2 Specifications

Galaxy View 2 specs wise it has quad speakers with Dolby Atmos for that “cinematic sound”, a massive 12,000mAh battery, 64GB Internal storage, and up to 400GB external microSD removable storage. Supported networks are 2G, 3G, and 4G/LTE. Model number is SM-T927A. Android version is 8.1, so no One UI, and Samsung are historically quite slow at updating these type of devices. According to Sammobile, it will most likely have 3GB RAM (is that it?) and powered by a Samsung Exynos 7885 processor as per a Geekbench sighting. On the camera side of life, you get a 5-MP front facing camera and no back camera. It shouldn’t be long now before this device becomes available to buy.
