At the Samsung Unpacked event, which took place a couple of days ago, Samsung announced their new phone, Galaxy S10, but missed a couple of small details. One of them being the fact that the Bixby button on the side of the phone doesn’t need to open the Bixby Feed anymore. This comes to a relief to many people as the first thing they have tended to
Now, the user can remap the key to make it launch any app of the users choice. Don’t worry if you haven’t gotten the features on your current Samsung flagship device, it’ll soon be coming to you through a software update – Samsung have confirmed. Not only one feature, but several others that’ll make your Bixby AI virtual assistant even better. Samsung is calling the remapping of the Bixby key ‘Bixby Key Customisation.’ – Ok then!
Now, someone can get the Bixby button to open any app of their choice, like for Instance Instagram instead of the Bixby Feed. You can also use a double-press of the button to access the Feed, if you so desire. When you hold down the button it will still continue to launch Bixby regardless of whether you’ve added a third-party app or not.
Allowing the users to remap the Bixby button means that Samsung are giving users a reason not to disable it (for the people that were disabling Bixby altogether.) Samsung have both managed to satisfy many customers and improved Bixby. Well done Samsung.
