Early in April, HP announced Chromebook x2, a convertible 2-in-1 Chromebook laptop with a detachable screen. Now it looks like the company is all ready to begin shipping the device. A new Best Buy listing for the HP Chromebook has surfaced where you can pre-order the device to have it delivered to you as soon as it’s available.
HP Chromebook x2
The Chromebook x2 by HP is only the second tablet to run Chrome OS. The first one was announced by Acer, Acer Chromebook Tab 10, only a few days before HP announced Chromebook x2. Unlike the earlier Chromebook x360 by HP, Chromebook x2 is a laptop that’s really a detachable tablet too. It doesn’t just flips the keyboard behind the screen, but you can actually leave-out the keyboard as well. The new Chromebook x2 also supports stylus input.
The Chromebook x2 is priced at $599, including the keyboard dock and stylus, which at first sight seems pretty expensive for a Chromebook. But x2 is a seriously nice-looking and powerful machine, with some exclusive benefits, like being one of the very first Chrome OS device with a tablet experience.
The Chromebook x2 is powered by Intel‘s Kaby Lake 1GHz Core m3 processor, with integrated Intel HD Graphics 615. The processor is backed by 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, expandable via an SD card. The 12.3 inch device featutres an IPS WLED touchscreen display panel of 2400×1600 resolution, and supports multitouch. The x2 also features Bang & Olufsen-branded dual stereo speakers, two USB-C ports, a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It has a 5 MP front-facing “Wide Vision” camera and a 13 MP rear camera. For power, the Chromebook x2 houses a 4-cell Lithium-ion battery.
All in all, the HP Chromebook x2 is a decent Chromebook to have. And if you’re in the look for a truly convertible 2-in-1 Chromebook laptop, it’s probably the one made for you. You can pre-order it from Best Buy now (link below) and pick it from a store on June 7. If you want to have it shipped, Best Buy will ship it on June 7.
