The Internet of Things is Important to hardware and software manufacturers and so is the standards that they work to. On May 8 at Samsung’s Seocho office the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Samsung Electronics to cooperate on the Internet of Things (IoT).
The issue of developing independent IoT service standards by IT device makers has become a hot potato in the industry. Global IT enterprises like Google and Qualcomm have already forged alliances for the IoT, and started to develop open-source based standards.
ETRI plans to build a cooperative system for IoT-related open-source activities for IoT related open source and standardization and will assist in the expansion of IoT-related technology platforms.
