Yesterday Japan’s largest telecom operator NTT DoCoMo launched its mobile devices and services for the winter 2013-2014. In all there are 12 smartphones that were launched, which included the Zeta Aquos Phone SH-01F, F-01F Arrows NX and Xperia SO-02F Z1f. One noticeable absence was any Tizen smartphones. NTT DoCoMo has previously stated that a Tizen smartphone will be one of the models that will be launched in the winter of 2013.
The President and CEO of NTT DoCoMo Kaoru Kato confirmed that “Tizen is still in development. You can see that some points will be further strengthened, and we continue to work hard to strengthen it” – Translated.
When pressed about the actual Tizen smartphone launch date, Kaoru Kato answered that an announcement will be released soon. He also said that they have chosen to concentrate on Tizen more than any other platform, “We will remain focused on Tizen.”
We will update you when we have further information.
