Even as Nokia prepares for its big “Zoom Reinvented” press event in New York City this morning, the device that was to be in the spotlight has already escaped into the wilds of the media jungle.
Thanks to the rather untimely release of some promotional videos on the AT&T YouTube channel, details about the latest Nokia smartphone, the Lumia 1020, are making the rounds early today. Though the videos are now marked private on YouTube, Engadget has their own copies of the videos.
Apparently, this is a smartphone that’s more about the camera than the actual, well, phone. Here’s what the promotional videos are hyping:
- 6x zoom in HD 720p
- 41 megapixel image sensor
- Optical image stabilization
- Large backside illumination sensor
- Full manual control
- Advanced Zeiss optics
Actually, there are some sound features played up in the videos, too. The Lumia 1020 is touted as having digital high-performance microphones and the capability to record high-quality stereo with deep bass.
It is not known whether other carriers besides AT&T will be getting the phone, nor have other features been confirmed. Nokia has managed to keep some of the reveal for itself, later today.
