Nintendo announces new streaming service ‘Nintendo Music’ for Switch Online subscribers

While it may not be the drop of a new console, Nintendo has just released a music streaming app for Switch Online subscribers and it’s aptly named ‘Nintendo Music.’

The mobile app officially launched on Wednesday (October 30) on both iOS and Android, with people able to listen to classic gaming tunes from the gaming company’s repertoire.

The app will contain new releases, as well as all of the retro classics within its library. Through Nintendo Music, users can stream and download numerous tracks.

Like with other streaming services, there is the ability to create playlists and there is a search tool to find preset playlists which may fit your current mood.

There are further functionalities like being able to hide certain tracks that may contain game spoilers, as well as extending or looping tracks so you can keep listening to your favorites. The tracks can be extended to 15, 30, or 60 minutes.

Nintendo Music available on App Store and Google Play

You can also listen offline when tracks are downloaded, so the internet isn’t needed at all times.

The database will feature music from Pikmin 4, Donkey Kong Country, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Metroid Prime, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, Splatoon 3, Kirby Star Allies, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade and many more.

The Nintendo accounts on X shared the news via X (formerly Twitter) and reminded people it’s only accessible to those with the Switch Online membership.

This is a paid-for subscription service that was launched in 2018 to allow members to enjoy online play in compatible Nintendo Switch games across a selection of classic NES games with online functionality.

The membership sets players back $19.99 USD/year for the individual pack.

For fans of Nintendo’s soundtracks, this new addition should make it a whole lot easier to stream its music as everything will be together in one app.
