The non NFC/MST based Samsung Pay service currently available on the Galaxy J7 Max, J7(2016), J7 Prime, On Max and On Nxt in India as Samsung Pay Mini came initially with support to Paytm as it’s wallet sponsor along with the Indian Government’s UPI wallet. Now, Samsung India has added Mobikwik as another wallet sponsor for Samsung Pay Mini. Mobikwik also announced that it will soon be made available on the Samsung Pay platform as well. Mobikwik has also announced special offers to those using the wallet service through Samsung Pay which can be found below.
A thing to note here is that the cashback scheme on Mobikwik is not similar to that of Paytm as users can only use a small percent of their ‘Supercash’ per transaction. At present, Mobikwik has over 55 million users and 1.4 million merchants spread across the country. Making payments on Samsung Pay using Mobikwik/Paytm is as simple as these steps-
- Signing up with your Paytm/Mobikwik account (one time process).
- Choosing between the two services for the transaction.
- Using the smartphone’s camera to scan the QR code of the receiver or merchant.
- Entering the required amount and completing the transaction.
Since Samsung Pay mini doesn’t directly support debit/credit card transactions, you’ll have to first top up your e-wallets with money from your debit/credit cards or else it can be done during the transaction as well but that takes time. Samsung Pay mini essentially brings the services of three separate payment based applications into a single one thus reducing space on the user’s smartphone.
