Igaming supplier Million Games has confirmed it is seeking expansion in the United Kingdom, with attempts underway to obtain an operating license from the British Gambling Commission.
The Sweden-based game studio is also planning to onboard with equivalent entities in other countries, the Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA) and the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), later this year.
The Chicken X developer sees accreditation and approval as the way forward to deliver sustained growth.
“Licensing is a cornerstone of trust and growth in igaming,” stated Million Games CEO, Thomas Nimstad.
He continued, “By securing these licences, we aim to provide Million Games and our partner studios with seamless access to some of the world’s most lucrative and well-regulated gaming markets.
License agreements in the countries mentioned above would also clear compliance hurdles for partner organisations.
Million Games has commenced the process in the UK with the Gambling Commission stipulating a 16-processing time for the application.
The official procedure will run for at least a few months before it comes to a conclusion.
Toughest and most prestigious licenses
As of May 2014, the UKGC’s conditions and codes of practice outline that remote gambling operators must source their software from licensed providers.
The application in the UK is a prerequisite to obtain a license before companies such as Million Games can partner with approved online platforms.
A similar process applies in Sweden and Malta.
The pursuit of regulatory clearance in the three nations was described by Million Games as a “journey to acquire some of the toughest and most prestigious licenses in the gaming industry.”
In addition to working on its own content, the company also collaborates with third parties to propel independent labels.
Launched in April 2024, Million Stars is a programme aimed at smaller developers, to work with them to deliver games to the market as part of the Million Games brand.
The initiative has led to the release of games including Vault Rush, Captain’s Curse, and Thorfinn’s Journey.
