Lenovo has beaten Google to launch the first Chromebook with 4K display. The Chinese company launched the Lenovo Yoga Chromebook C630 at the ongoing IFA 2018 in Berlin. Its a premium 2-in-1 Chrome OS device boasting a large, 15.6-inch 4K display, and a metal body.

Lenovo’s Yoga Chromebook is a 2-in-1 convertible premium Chromebook which brings a ton to the table. It is powered-by 8th generation Intel Core i5-8250U Kaby Lake R processor, and integrated Intel HD Graphics 620. The Chromebook offers 8GB of RAM and a choice between 64GB and 128GB of eMMC storage. The device packs dual 2W stereo speakers, backlit keyboard, and a 720p HD webcam. There are two USB-C ports, both capable of charging, one USB-A port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card slot.
The headline spec of the Lenovo Yoga Chromebook, however, is its 4K (3840 x 2160) IPS touchscreen, which is bright and colorful, and looks fantastic. But if a 4K display is not a thing for you, or if you fancy saving yourself a little money, the Yoga Chromebook will also be available with a full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS touchscreen. Lenovo claims the device to offer “up to 10 hours” of battery life.

Lenovo has kept thin bezels in an aluminium chassis which comes in a slick “Midnight Blue” color. However, a big 15.6″ screen and a full-metal body mean the device measures 14.23” x 9.8” x 0.7”, and weighs just 4.2lbs (1.9kg).
As for wireless connectivity, there’s Intel WiFi 8265 2×2 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.1 StonePeak on-board.

Google is also long-rumoured to launch the second generation of its Pixelbook, with 4K display. But for the records, it’s Lenovo’s Yoga Chromebook C630 leading the pack. It will be available from October in select regions which include Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Lenovo says it will be available at a starting price of $599, which would go up as per the specs and storage capacity.
