At the upcoming Tizen Developer Conference, Intel are giving away a Intel NUC Kit DE3815TYKHE device to qualifying attendees. This unit is Powered by a 64-bit Intel® Atom™ processor E3815, and comes with 4 GB of Embedded MultiMediaCard (eMMC) storage built in, which will be plenty to run Tizen and potentially other Linux distributions on, as Open source video drivers are available for this unit.
Why give an Intel NUC device
The NUC represents a new form factor for Tizen and it serves the following objectives:
- Show Tizen Common 3.0 Alpha running on a device. We will be able to see the progress that Tizen 3.0 Alpha has made so far, and also see Wayland in action.
- Encourage Tizen platform development by giving developers a device they
can test with - Highlight Intel embedded solutions and the Intel NUC, as a new form factor for
multiple new uses. The more new use cases you find for this device, the happier Intel will be
The fact that this unit can run Tizen Common (which has Qt bundled in), makes this give away extra special. Tizen Common is not like a traditional vertical profile, but instead it can be used as a common base for other profiles like IVI, Mobile and others. It provides a common platform for developers and integrators.
