Intel Medfield smartphone prototype possible brief preview

Details are quite sketchy on this one and at the moment it’s leaning more on the side of a rumour than fact, but according to a thread on  Anand Chandrasekher, senior vice president and general manager of Intel’s Ultra Mobility Group is holding in his hands what many are calling an Intel Medfield based smartphone. This is a pic of the phone in question from a Intel sales conference last week:

Intel Medfield processors were announced last year destined for smartphone platforms,bringing with them a power / efficiency balance to take the fight to ARM Cortex A8 and A9 processors. Will a MeeGo / Medfield phone be announced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) ? We seriously doubt it as this is not enough time for the Processor and Platform to take shape.
Whatever happens, it should be an interesting year for us as Intel, ARM, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Samsung and Marvell all up their game in the processor market.
