Huawei Watch GT leaked, likely to run Snapdragon Wear 3100

Huawei‘s scheduled to host Mate 20 event on October 16 where it’s likely to announce the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, and Mate 20 Lite smartphones. However, the Chinese firm might also be prepping a smartwatch for the London event. A leaked photo of the company’s upcoming watch, apparently called Huawei Watch GT, has been obtained by WinFuture, along with some intriguing specs.

Huawei Watch GT

Huawei’s previous endeavor with smartwatch wasn’t a successful one, with the Huawei Watch 2 failing big time. However, the company CEO Richard Yu had said in a recent interview they are not done with smartwatches. And by the looks of it, the Watch 2 successor has arrived.
The Huawei Watch GT comes equipped with a 1.39-inch, circular AMOLED display and two large, side-mounted buttons. There is, however, only a little known about what’s inside the watch, which includes 4GB storage capacity, GPS and NFC. The Huawei Watch GT is waterproof and can, therefore, be used while swimming.

The watch packs a 420mAh battery, capable of running the watch for up to 14 days in essentially “dumb” mode. With permanently activated always-on display, the runtime slumps down to 7 days, while in GPS mode, only up to 20 hours are possible. Given such a long battery life, the watch is presumably be powered by the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100. It should also be running the recently revamped Wear OS.
While it’s very unlikely for any smartwatch, it’s still to be confirmed if the watch packs a heart rate monitor or not. A compass, a pressure sensor, and an accelerometer are, however, expected to be present alongside Bluetooth. And considering the growing trend of fitness-focused smartwatches, the Huawei Watch GT is also expected to come heavily equipped with health-tracking features.

Price and availability

The Huawei Watch GT comes in two variants – GT Sport and GT Classic. The Classic or Fashion model uses a black bezel on a silver case, and ships with a maroon band. The sports edition, meanwhile, is completely black.
Huawei will probably be looking to score big with a juicy pricing of Watch GT. The smartwatch is expected to be in the €190 ($220) to €229 ($265) price range.
Come October 16, and we should have more to talk about the watch.
