Remember the HTC Exodus 1? Claimed to be the world’s first major blockchain phone, the device was made available for pre-order in October last year. But until now, one could buy it using cryptocurrencies only. However, HTC is now expanding its reach to non-crypto natives as well. The Exodus 1 can now be purchased with real money.
HTC also announces multiple new partnerships for Exodus 1
Until now, you could purchase the HTC EXodus 1 using cryptocurrency only. You had to pay either 0.15 bitcoin or 4.78 Ether, both of which meant around $1000 back in October. However, the volatile nature of the crypto market has brought down their value to $571 or $644, respectively. HTC has now introduced real money as a payment option, quoting $699 as the price. You can also purchase the phone using BNB, thanks to HTC’s new partnership with Binance.
In addition to Binance, HTC also announced a few more partnerships, including the one with Opera. This partnership means Exodus 1 users will now get a decentralized web browser, allowing them “to protect and secure their own data by providing more transparent peer to peer services, removing the middlemen that used to benefit from holding your information”. The crypto-ready browser leverages the Zion Key Management API to protect user data.

We are very proud to partner with EXODUS and together define a new standard for usability and security of crypto,” said Charles Hamel, Head of Crypto at Opera browsers.
HTC has also added Etheremon, Taiwanese DApp called Numbers, and Decentraland DApps in its ZIONVault integrated cold storage.
“EXODUS is about the future of data and getting the right architecture for the Internet, one that includes security, privacy and transfer of ownership of data back to the person generating it,” said Phil Chen, Decentralized Chief Officer at HTC.
HTC will begin shipping the pre-ordered units by the end of March.
