That’s right people, two of Samsung’s Gear smartwatches- the Gear S3 and Gear Sport, are receiving new features. This same update was delivered to the Galaxy Watch and Watch Active not too long ago.
Another upgrade the Gear S3 and Gear Sport smartwatches are getting is the Bixby virtual assistant. We can say goodbye to the S Voice assistant as it will no longer be supported by June 2020.
According to the change-log of this new update, the version number is R760XXU2FTD4 / R760OXA2FTD4. The size of the update is not too little 106.50MB.
What’s New to the Gear S3 and Gear Sport?
First of all, we have Bixby. The new Bixby assistant has been added to help the user get their tasks done more efficiently. Next on the change-log is a watch face that shows the background apps you have running. For example, you may have a timer in the background. You can then tap on the icon so that you’ll be taken to the app. Now, for me, this is the best feature, additional emoticons! What other way is there to express your feelings?!
With the update, there are improved user interactions for several features. The Always-on Display screen is easier to read while the smartwatch is on charge or is in battery saving mode. When it comes to the quick panel, there is improved icon order customization. The timer and stopwatch on the smartwatches are now more ‘intuitive’ and the smartwatches are able to recognize sleeping more efficiently.
So far, the update is currently in the US and South Korea (Samsung’s home country) but it will continue to roll through more countries.
