The Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4 have gained FCC certification ahead of launch. The two smartwatches are expected to be launched pretty soon – in August. Only the LTE and Wi-Fi-only variants of the Samsung smartwatch have received the FCC certificate.
The Wi-Fi-only version of the Galaxy Watch 4 has the model number SM-R880. The LTE version of the Galaxy Watch 4 has the model number SM-R885. For the Watch 4 Active, the Wi-Fi-only has the model number SM-R870 whereas the LTE has the model number SM-R875.
Both of the Samsung smartwatches will have single-band (2.4GHz) Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and wireless charging. The LTE variants will have multiple cellular bands and support voice calling. The entire Galaxy Watch 4 series will use ATL and Samsung SDI batteries that will come with wireless charging adapters.
The smartwatches are also expected to have Super AMOLED screens, accelerometer, barometer, compass, gyro, heart rate monitor, SpO2 sensor, fall detection, and sleep tracking. All of this is powered by a 247mAh battery. The smartwatch could have an IP68 rating and Samsung Pay. An IP68 rating means that the smartwatch can withstand dust, dirt and sand. As well as this, it can be under 1.5m of water for about 30 minutes.
