Samsung’s latest budget-friendly fitness tracker is now available in India. Fitness tracker devices have to be competitively priced in order for them to survive and the Galaxy Fit 2 has to do the same. Priced at Rs. 3,999 ($54) the device should be able to take on traditionally cheaper Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Huawei, and Amazfit.
There are only two colours available for this device – black and scarlet, which can take some of the thinking out of the decision process. You can purchase the wearable device at the usual Samsung retail outlets and also Amazon India. There is however no word of availability from Samsung’s own online store.
Meet the Galaxy Fit 2
The Galaxy Fit 2 packs quite a lot of tech under the hood and is definitely a worth upgrade from its predecessor. Samsung’s signature feature, the 1.1″ AMOLED display with a resolution of 126×294 pixels, is what makes most users gravitate to it. The display is protected behind 3D glass. There are more than 70 watch faces to match your style or mood. You also get 5ATM certification – meaning you can have guaranteed water resistance up to a depth of 50 meteres. More than enough for “most” of us.
Hardware-wise the Galaxy Fit2 features an accelerometer, gyro, optical heart rate monitor, and sleep tracking. Built-in you can automatically track five different types of workouts: running, walking, dynamic workout, elliptical trainer, and rowing. It features 2MB RAM, 32MB ROM, and Bluetooth 5.1. It can control music, mirror notifications from the smartphone, and even lets you send quick replies to notifications.
