Back in September, Apple announced a dual wireless charging pad which is compatible with charging two devices simultaneously. Now, Samsung Electronics is working on a similar device. The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has approved Samsung’s patent for a Dual Wireless Charging Pad that will probably work like Apple’s device. With this device, users can power their Galaxy- and Gear-branded like the Gear S3, Gear S2 and Gear Sport products concurrently.

Patently Mobile reports that from the design of this device, it would support all Qi-compatible smartphone, tablet and wearable in the market because it supports both inductive and resonates modes of wireless charging, which are docile with the Qi standard. The design of this device is quite simple, there are two coils housed within the unit and both of them supports inductive and resonate charging thus the pad can switch automatically between them whenever the user wants it to.
Well, we should all know that Samsung has hundreds of approved patents annually and it submits applications for patents almost on a daily basis but only a really small fraction of approved patents ever makes it to the market. It will be more interesting to see such a device launch alongside the expected Galaxy S9 flagship sometime next year as this will probably put it in a better position against iPhone X
