As we approach the release date for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, excitement is rising. The more we learn about the game the higher our expectations rise, as BioWare has huge shoes to fill with the sequel to Dragon Age: Inquisition, which was Game of the Year in 2014.
The Steam page for Veilguard has now been populated with the game’s system requirements, so you can know for sure if your machine can run the game. It’s actually good news – the minimum requirements are extremely achievable for most modern gaming PCs, and even the recommended should be within most players’ reach.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard system requirements
The game does suffer from a problem common in modern games though – the huge storage space requirements. Sure, it’s no 300GB Call of Duty behemoth, but still, 100GB isn’t a small file size.

- Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 970/1650 / AMD Radeon R9 290X
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 100 GB available space
- Additional Notes: SSD Preferred, HDD Supported; AMD CPUs on Windows 11 require AGESA V2 1.2.0.7
Dragon Age: The Veilguard recommended system requirements

These system requirements are extremely similar to Baldur’s Gate 3’s requirements, particularly on the minimum side of things, so if you can run the Larian epic, you should be able to manage Veilguard.
Will Dragon Age: The Veilguard be on the Steam Deck?
Great news – Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be launching as a ‘Verified’ Steam Deck title, so it should run cleanly and smoothly on Valve’s handheld device.
The extremely modest specifications are likely down to two things – firstly, Veilguard has been developed on BioWare’s Frostbite engine, which is highly optimized for the kind of game Veilguard promises to be. Secondly, unlike its predecessor, Veilguard is not an open-world game, and although it will feature some large and detailed environments for players to explore, having self-contained areas is much easier on the PC than a huge open-world.
Hopefully, your PC will be able to handle at least the minimum requirements for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. If not, there are a few months till the game releases on October 31, 2024, to sure up your rig.
