World’s first Tablet running Tizen 3.0
During the Forum “Internet of Things” (IoT), that was held on September 22, 2016 in Media Center MIA “Russia today” (Moscow), DIGMA presented the world’s first Tizen-based tablet running version 3.0 of the Operating System (OS) with a new “architecture designed for the Internet of Things”. This tablet is aimed squarely at businesses and government enterprise organizations that require data security and device stability from their OS and required apps.
The tablet was the DIGMA Plane 8501 3G that is already commercially available running Android. Now, through DIGMAs own Internal development team, they have been able to adapt Tizen 3.0 to successfully run on it. Previously we have had a prototype Tizen tablet developed Systena but unfortunately that project didn’t make it to being productised.
The device features a 8-inch 1280 x 800 IPS-display and runs a quad-core Spreadtrum SC7731G 1.2Ghz Cortex A7 processor with a Mali-400 MP2 GPU. We have 1GB Memory with 8GB Internal storage, Micros SD, Dual SIM Card, Support for WiFi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0, 2MP main camera and VGA front facing camera. GPS, and a 3,800mAh battery.
The Russian Tizen Association is helping promote the Tablet as a secure IoT device. There is no official news regarding launch dates and expected pricing but we would think it would be around the same price of its Android equivalent at 6,790 руб.
