Detroit Lions host Washington Commanders, latest odds and predictions

The Detroit Lions head into the NFC Divisional Round contest with the Washington Commanders on Saturday as favorites.

Having earned the #1 seed in the NFC this season, the Lions should be confident following a formidable 15-2 regular season, while the Commanders have a lesser 12-5 record.

With an average of 33.2 points per game giving them the top rank in the NFL, with gamblers winning big, the Detroit Lions will be aiming for more of the same in the playoffs.

The match will take place at the Ford Field in Detroit, the home of the Lions, on Saturday, January 18 at 8 pm Eastern Time, 5 pm Pacific Time, streamed live by FOX.

What are the latest odds for the game?

FanDuel Sportsbook has set the opening line at Lions -8.5 points, following an initial marker of Lions -7.5 points, but this was quickly adjusted following the early stakes. This evidences the favorites tag for the home side.

Meanwhile, DraftKings is matching the Spread of Lions -8.5, with a Total of 55.5.

Their Moneyline has the Washington Commanders at +400, with the Detroit Lions at -600.

NBC Sports Bet has quoted its analyst Brad Thomas who is backing the Commanders at +8.5

Thomas said, “The Lions are an exceptional team who earned the #1 seed in NFC. They have a high-powered offense that can almost score at will.”

The injuries have been piling up for the Lions, especially on the defensive side of the ball,” he added.

“Given the Lions’ injuries and the stellar play of Daniels, I have to imagine he can make this game competitive. I would be a big fan if you’d like to use the Commanders as a teaser leg.”

Other noted betting trends for this matchup include:

  • The Lions 12-5 against the spread.
  • The Commanders 11-6-1 against the spread.
  • Lions 9-8 to the OVER
  • Commanders 11-7 to the OVER
