Kindle Fire Is A Service, Not A Product
Like the XBox 360, The Kindle Fire can and will be sold at a loss, as a strategy to sell digital media. The point of the device is to give Amazon another screen to sell you books, movies, games and any other digital content it can dream up. While it hopes you will buy tangible Amazon items too via the shiny tablet, the point of the device is to sell you digital media. And early data shows that it’s already fairly high on people’s tablet wishlists.
