Daily Wrap: Kindle Fire: Service, Not Product and more

Jon Mitchell points out that the Kindle Fire is really more of a service offering than a product offering. This and more in today’s Daily Wrap.

Sometimes it’s difficult to catch every story that hits tech media in a day, so we wrap up some of the most talked about stories. We give you a daily recap of what you missed in the ReadWriteWeb Community, including a link to some of the most popular discussions in our offsite communities on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+ as well. This is a new feature at ReadWriteWeb so we covet your feedback. If you have suggestions, please leave them in the comments below or reach out to me directly at robyn at readwriteweb.com.

Kindle Fire Is A Service, Not A Product

Like the XBox 360, The Kindle Fire can and will be sold at a loss, as a strategy to sell digital media. The point of the device is to give Amazon another screen to sell you books, movies, games and any other digital content it can dream up. While it hopes you will buy tangible Amazon items too via the shiny tablet, the point of the device is to sell you digital media. And early data shows that it’s already fairly high on people’s tablet wishlists.
