Cordia Open Tablet – Developer Preview – MeeGo

… is an effort to bring a practical, openly hackable, Open Source tablet device to Maemo & MeeGo communities.

Cordia Tab is currently available for developers interested in helping the development.

Cordia is not a company Project or idea that I am familiar with but the general idea from their site is:

We need to place a bulk order at the factory manufacturing the tablets, to get a reasonable price. (Estimated ~ 300 USD)
But as there is no “big money” behind us, we need to gather the money from you up front, to be able to place the order.
The idea is to get 250 “brave souls” that decide to jump the first batch and order it.
As I am still settling details with the factory, I’m not yet collecting preorders.
Instead you may request to be notified as soon the preorders are open.
Please use the form below to request to be notified when I start collecting preorders.
You may also use this form to ask generic questions.

So we end up with a 7″ Tablet that runs MeeGo, costs about $300 and is a community effort.
