Call of Duty Black Ops 6 will feature the classic CoD Prestige System as it returns to the game for the first time since 2019. It was back then when it was originally scrapped and replaced by the much-derided seasonal system designed to keep existing players playing longer as new seasons arrived.
This meant that for players who shot through the ranks, there was little to go at until the next season arrived but this will be a problem no longer. But what is the ‘classic’ Prestige system and how does it work?
How the Classic Prestige System works in Call of Duty
While Prestige is available from the moment the game launches, you will need to max out your character to Level 55. At that point, you can reset your levels and gain a Prestige Badge – Prestige 1 and get cracking once more.
All of your Weapon builds and levels, Operators, and Challenge Progress, but your Loadout content will get wiped.
Also, interestingly, your combat stats including your K/D get wiped although there is a Combat Record page in the menu where you can see your overall statistics.
Each time you gain a level of Prestige and reset, you will be granted a Permanent Unlock which you can apply to any Loadout item. This will keep it, er permanently unlocked obviously enough so you can use it at any point during any level.
How many Prestige levels are in Black Ops 6?
Call of Duty will have 10 Prestige levels, all of which are available at launch as Treyarch attempts to address hardcore player drain. If you manage to grind your way all the way to level 10, or Prestige Master, you will find another 1,000 levels, complete with a special reward at the end of that. Presumably a new set of eyeballs.
Prestige rewards
Beyond a new badge each time you gain Prestige you will also unlock new Operator skins and weapon blueprints. These are themed around specific Treyarch Call of Duty games but as yet there is no list as to what they may be.
