We were overjoyed to see a high profile messaging app like WhatsApp available on the Tizen Store at launch for the Samsung Z1. Now it seems the WhatsApp Android App, which used Open Mobile’s ACL technology to run on Tizen, has served its purpose and a Native App has launched today with WhatsApp Messenger being replaced.
NOTE: This a port of the iPhone WhatsApp App to Tizen and therefore like the iPhone App voice calling is NOT supported at the moment and will be introduced in a future update.
All you need to do is uninstall your existing WhatsApp messenger App by long pressing on the Icon and clicking on the “x” that appears next to the app. Now just find whatsApp (not WhatsApp Messenger) on the Tizen Store and Install. Hopefully this is the start of more high profile native apps hitting the Tizen Store for the Samsung Z1 and also future Tizen devices.
