Just days after Samsung announced the global roll-out of the more premium variants of its Gear S2 classic smartwatch, Rose Gold and Platinum, the smartwatches made way into stores in USA and parts of Europe for pre-orders. The pre-orders for the Tizen based smartwatches are now up in United Kingdom via an online retailer Mobilefun. Both the Rose Gold and Platinum variants are listed with a similar pricing of £399.99 with shipping to begin at a future point of time.
To recall, the Rose Gold and Platinum variants were unveiled this year at CES, Las Vegas. Both the variants give a premium makeover to the Gear S2 classic with an 18K Rose Gold plated housing and Ivory genuine leather straps for the Rose Gold Variant and a Titanium plated housing with Black genuine leather straps for the Platinum variant. Internally, the technical specifications of both these variants remain the same as the lower priced regular Gear S2 classic and sports edition smartwatches (not the 3G variants).
Samsung seems to be taking the smartwatch/wearable market very seriously and doing all it can to bring more developers to bring their services onto their Tizen platform for the smartwatch. With leaked images of a possible Tizen based fitness tracker also making news recently, the wearable scene can only get more exciting with time!
