Counterpoint, the market research company, has published its summary report for Q2 2015 sales of the India mobile phone market. Samsung led the overall mobile phone market and the smartphone segment during the quarter with market shares of 18.7% and 24.5% respectively.
Interesting for us at Tizen Experts, Samsung’s Tizen based Z1 was Samsung’s best-selling smartphone in India during the second quarter, thanks to its cheaper price point, higher sales incentives and wider distribution. It out-sold both the Samsung S6 / S6 Edge and also Apple’s iPhone 6.
The vendor has also scaled up its domestic manufacturing operations in its local facility in Rudrapur, India with a production output of now 2 Million units per quarter. Samsung lead the India smartphone market followed by Micromax, Intex, Lenovo and Lava.
