Introducing the New USB 3.0 cable (and connector)

It looks like the Samsung Galaxy Note III is going to be the first Smartphone to support this new and MASSIVE connector. One of the main benefits is going to be the you can actually draw 900 milliamps current from the port opposed to the current 500 milliamps. This means that you have a better chance of actually charging newer devices with biggest batteries.
Key Features:

  • FAST – We have lived with the 480Mb/s data transfer limit of USB 2.0 for far too long now and now we have a theoretical maximum of 4.8Gb/s.
  • Bi-Directional – Previously we have only been able to send data in one direction at once. USB 3.0 can read and write data simultaneously via two new lanes dedicated to transmitting data and another pair dedicated to receiving.
  • Backwards Compatible – A good thing to note is that it is backwards compatible with your existing USB 2.0 hardware. Obviously the benefits of USB3.0 can only be realised when using USB3.0 devices and cable.
