Intel at CES have laid out that they have serious intentions for the SmartPhone game. They are currently showcasing a hardware reference design so that manufacturers can build their own Smartphone incorporating Intels Medfield chipset.
The reference design is currently running Android (Gingerbread 2.3) on a Atom Z2460 processors, clocked at 1.6GHz and able to support 21Mbps HSPA+, 4 inch display, 8MP Main Camera with a 1.3MP Front Facing Camera, HD Video Playback, 3D GyroScope, WiFi, Reported 1430mah Battery – NOT Confirmed, Bluetooth and also HDMI out and NFC chucked in. This chipset also incorporates Hyper-Threading technology, and the XMM 6260 Platform.

What does this mean for us in Tizen world ? Well this is some hardware that Manufacturers can utilise to target Tizen on and obviously Intel would be “oh so interested” to help them along on this merry path.
