Almost a month ago we reported that the Tizen Samsung Z1 Smartphone did not release as hoped / expected in India, but over $1.7m USD worth of Samsung Z1 SM-130H parts had been imported. Since then we have seen Leaked pictures of the Samsung Z1, and also the prospect of a 18 January 2015 India release date, potentially followed by China and Korea.
Well its January 2015 and all signs still point to a Samsung Z1 launch soon, in fact since 10 December a further $5.2m USD (330m INR) worth of Samsung Z1 parts have been imported into India, totally almost $7m USD (440m INR) in parts alone. This represents a significant investment into the Z1 and also shows the commitment that Samsung now has for it and the first Tizen smartphone.
The Samsung Z1 represents the first Tizen Smartphone that is Linux based, does not have a dalvik cache to rely on (Android i’m looking at you) and is backed by some of the worlds largest Operators, OEMs, ISVs, Platform designers, Operators, Hardware vendors and Software vendors. Tizen is being developed in the Open as an Open Source project.
