World’s first 1TB microSD card courtesy of SanDisk and Micron

We love consuming media. Movies, pictures, music, and more – it seems like our insatiable appetites will never have its fill. It all adds up in terms of storage demand and luckily our smartphones and tablets have been keeping up reasonably well. Now, at long last we have the launch of 1TB MicroSD card – your smartphone can compete with your laptop in terms of storage capacity and kick its butt in terms of Apps.

Tech companies Micron and SanDisk have both unveiled their microSD solutions at this years MWC 2019 in Barcelona. Micron likes to be known as the first commercially available card and SanDisk, on the other hand, wants to be known as having the fastest 1TB microSD card in the world.

The 1TB SanDisk Extreme UHS-I microSDXC card can read at a peak rate of 160 MB/s and write 90 MB/s. It will be available in 1TB and 512GB storage capacities and are now available for pre-order now on SanDisk.com. The cards will go on sale for $449.99 and $199.99, respectively. Availability is pegged in as late April 2019.

The story with Micron’s offerings is a little different as there is no pricing Information available at the moment. As for final release, we are looking at sometime in Q2 2019.
