YouTube TV now available on Samsung Smart TVs

YouTube launched YouTube TV app earlier this year and since then, it has been rolling out the app on various platforms. Further expanding its reach, Goggle has now announced that YouTube TV app will be available for owners of the newer model of Samsung Smart TVs.
The announcement, made by Google via Twitter, did not specifically mentioned which models are supported and instead just stated that 2016 and 2017 TVs from Samsung are now compatible. The Xbox and Android TV versions of the app have been out for a few weeks now. The announcement also stated that 2016 and 2017 models of Smart TVs from LG will also support YouTube TV app. Furthermore, YouTube TV support page advises that support for 2014 and 2015 models (both LG and Samsung) will be coming soon although no specific dates were mentioned.

YouTube TV provides subscribers with access to a selection of live TV and on-demand content from a number of major networks. The service is currently priced at $35 per month and does offer access to the likes of AMC, NBC, FOX, and more. YouTube also offers a one-week free trial to test-run the service before having to pay. Given that Samsung is the world’s top-selling TV company, that’s a big audience that suddenly just got access to YouTube TV.
So if you are looking to get the service setup on your Samsung TV (or LG), the app should now be listed in the app store of your TV. Just navigate to the app store on the TV, search for “YouTube TV” and install the app. Please note that neither the LG or Samsung TV apps allow device owners to subscribe to YouTube TV from within the app. So you first need to subscribe to YouTube TV services via a different platform. You can do that either through the YouTube TV website or through the YouTube TV Android mobile app.
