WhatsApp’s latest beta access has caused some testers to experience the screen turning completely green, making the app unusable.
The instant messaging app which is owned by Meta is facing a major green screen issue in its beta version 2.24.24.5, but the bug does seem to be only isolated to this beta.
The users who are testing the new version are reporting a complete green screen when they go to click on a chat, with others reporting the app forces close.

This issue has become a reminder of the purpose of beta versions, where a new build of software is pre-released so it can be tested with a group of end users. Sometimes, the release contains bugs or performance issues and these are then rectified before a full rollout takes place to the general public.
This variant was released on November 9, with some people now taking to social media to ask the platform to ‘fix it ASAP.’

One X user shared a screenshot of a green screen and said this has occurred “Despite leaving the beta program.”

WhatsApp beta: What will version 2.24.24.5 include?
This beta version is expected to include some upgrades to communication on the app, including performance improvements and bug fixes for live location sharing.
Another change is that message drafts will be indicated with a ‘Draft’ label in the chat list.
WhatsApp beta testing is open to anyone but is aimed at developers. Users on iOS are able to join the group through the use of TestFlight, with each build available to test for up to 90 days which starts from the day the developer uploads the build. The WhatsApp program is currently full.
Android users are able to join through the Google Play Store and scrolling down on WhatsApp to see the ‘become a beta tester’ panel.
The platform hasn’t yet commented publicly about the beta issue, but will likely be working on fixing the issue ahead of a full release. It isn’t yet known when the expected release date is.
